The Museum of Iron, a unit of the musil, was created in 1984 when the Fondazione Civilità Bresciana acquired the forge Caccagni to make a museum-laboratory of industrial archaeology. The Museum shows the historic role of the waterwheel and gives visitors the feel of the atmosphere of an old working environment linked to an important handcraft knowledge. The principal aim of the Museum is to gain an understanding of the territory from an environmental, historic, economic and social point of view. Recently, the hammer, the waterwheel, the water-sharing plants and the hydraulic supply systems of the forge of the Bova canal were renovated.
