The headquarters of the Museum will be created in Brescia, in a metallurgical factory which was built in the first industrial suburb in the city, between 19th and 20th century, next to Campo Fiera, a working-class district. A factory which has been abandoned for many years, has maintained its original appearance; becoming a museum, it will enrich the big project of urban requalification of this ex-industrial area next to the historic center of the city.
In May 2004 the international contest of architecture for the creation of the main center of the Museum, for pre-qualified entrants, ended. The winning project of the architects Klaus Schuwerk and Jan Kleihues.
